6 ways to get your office ready for Autumn

Autumn has arrived and we’re all into cosying up for winter and making the most of the darker evenings. Memories of wrapping up in warm blankets and sipping hot chocolate from oversized mugs or kicking piles of orange and red leaves beneath trees mean we look forward to autumn with fond nostalgia. But how do you ready the office for autumn? How do you make the most of the waning light and bring that fond nostalgia in?

  1. Ensure light can travel around your office.
Remove any office dividers that could be blocking light from natural windows. If you still want to divide the office without losing what little daylight there is, try our Compression shelving and room divider shelves which allow you to partition a room stylishly, without limiting the daylight that floods the room.
  2. Make sure you have hooks available for soggy coats and bags.
By allocating a convenient spot for soggy coats, bags and umbrellas you can reduce the likelihood that rainwater will be trailed across the floor of your office, or make seats soggy. If you already have a Box 15 storage system such as the GRID system or the HANG system, then we are likely to have a hook to fit, but if not, you can buy any standard coat hooks like these from our sister company BPF Online.
  3. Embrace autumnal colours.
Oranges, reds and browns are really lovely colours for office décor like flower displays, candles or pumpkins.
  4. Cosy up.
If you share an office, this can be more difficult, but if you work on your own, or have a home office, bringing a blanket into the office can be a lovely way to feel comfy and cosy while you work through those emails. Of course, it’s not just about feeling comfy, if you’re paying for heating, it’s also a practical way to keep warm and reduce your heating bills.
There are other ways to reduce those bills in our earlier blog ’Your essential guide to creating a warm and cosy home office this winter’.
  5. Cut down on cables
Cables are always messy but as winter approaches, mobile devices tend to drain faster in extreme cold temperatures, so take this opportunity to cut down on your cable clutter and get wireless chargers installed in desktops to enable employees to have easy, convenient and stylish access to charging points throughout the day. For more on how Wireless Chargers work, see our blog ‘How Wireless Chargers Work’.
  6. Protect your employees.
For those who are on the front line with members of the public, it’s time to start protecting them from coughs and sneezes. With every winter comes a flu season, and this year a new wave of COVID appears to have arrived with it. A freestanding screen is an effective and convenient way to protect those in front of house.

With just a few smart alterations you can make your office a cosy and enjoyable place to be this winter. For help and advice on any of our products listed in this blog call us on 01295 565001 or chat with our friendly advisors online.
