Kitchen organisation hacks

It doesn’t matter how much space you have in your kitchen, there’s never enough.

At Box 15 we have a wide range of kitchen storage solutions such as counter-top storage systems and compression shelving systems to help you make the most of the space you’ve got. But sometimes, it’s about the little tweaks that help keep your spaces tidy.

That’s why we’ve put together our top kitchen organisation hacks to help you ensure you have everything you need to hand.

  • Keep dishcloths and sponges tidy
Use a shower caddy to keep dishcloths and sponges tidy and safely away from dishwasher tablets that damp cloths could ruin, or electricals. Use 3M Velcro Command strips to secure the caddy to the inside of your cupboard or the wall by your sink and when you’ve finished washing up, wring out your cloths and sponges and pop them in the caddy.
  • Stow away the ironing board with a pull-out ironing board that simply slides out when needed.
  • Use hanging hooks for measuring spoons – again, these can be attached using Command strips to ensure that if you want to move them, you can peel them off with no dramas. By hanging measuring spoons and cups you can easily find the spoons you need when you need them.
  • Create a lid organizer for Tupperware and plastic lids by setting a cooling rack over a shallow container, then slide the whole thing into a drawer or cabinet, ready for you to find the right lids when you need them.
  • Use Magnetic storage for knives with a magnetic strip or a magnetic splashback to store kitchen knives making sure they’re always to hand when you need them, and you won’t risk slicing fingers ferreting around in drawers.
  • Keep saucepan lids where you can find them with Command hooks attached to the inside of cupboard doors. This makes space for easier pot storage and makes it easier for you to find the right lid every time. Just make sure your hooks are deep enough for the rim of the pan lid!
  • Hang your spray bottles with tension rods suspended between the sides of your cupboard, creating a double storage layer for all your cleaning items.
  • Use wall-based storage for easy to see spices and dried herbs. By using narrow shelves that can be attached to the wall, or narrow shelves that use magnets to attach to a magnetic strip or splashback, you can quickly and easily see and access those dried herbs and spices you use the most.
  • Hang glassware beneath your cupboards to free up vast amounts of cupboard space, but it also creates a stylish feature in your kitchen.
  • Install a pop up socket into your kitchen worktop to give you power where you need it and reduce the need to keep wires and cables trailing all around your kitchen even when not in use. For added convenience you could choose a pop-up socket that charges wirelessly.
