Create efficient workflows in your hybrid office with the right set up

So many offices these days offer hybrid working.

Part of the week at home, part in the office. But this means the office space needs to be set up to support efficient hybrid working. Desks that belong not to individuals, but to the office; used by anyone, at any time.

Unless employers are set up for hybrid working, valuable man-hours can be lost as employees get set up and packed up before and after a day in the office. With just a little bit of consideration, you can make hybrid working as quick and easy as the new work-from-home commute.

Here are our tips to optimise your office environment for efficient hybrid working:

1.      Ensure info is easily available

With emails and intranets, workflows and project boards, it can be easy to forget about the obvious but, for key information, nothing beats a written note in the office.

Whether it’s to identify who books which desks or to chalk up the sales figures or the To Dos, a magnetic whiteboard can be a great way to make sure all those in the office see key information. A physical note can keep important details separate from the avalanche of digital content that deluges us on a daily basis. A magnetic whiteboard like this one offers versatility with opportunities for people to add paper notes, tickets or printouts, but also to chalk up information when necessary with a whiteboard marker.

2.      Give everyone a safe space to store their belongings

If people don’t have the luxury of calling a desk their own, it’s important they can have a space to store belongings they only need for the office. An under-desk pedestal unit can be a perfect place to keep your belongings safe and out of the way for other desk users. It also means that employees have no excuse not to keep desktops clean and clear.

3.      Ensure everyone has a desk that can be easily adjusted for comfort with electronic controls for precision.

For the 31.5 million people who took time off work for work-related ill health last year, an average of 13.9 days were taken for muscular-skeletal disorders.

Bad posture is a costly business for businesses and, because one size doesn’t fit all, investing in a sit stand desk with electronic controls can be a shrewd move. The electronic controls allow for greater precision to ensure your workforce is perfectly supported wherever they sit when they’re in the office.

4.      Breakout spaces for those in meetings or on breaks to socialise and collaborate

Because there isn’t always space for everyone all the time, breakout spaces suddenly come into their own. By creating spaces where people can wind down, socialise or collaborate, you can foster enhanced teamwork. Tables like this one provide a relaxed environment where people can get together over a coffee or huddle as they pour over papers.

5.      Power- aid

The other key consideration in any modern office is the availability of power sockets. Powering PCs and printers and charging tablets and phones are important to employees, and not having power sockets in the right places can cause all sorts of problems. By using pop-up sockets to deliver power to desktops and units, you can keep employee’s devices topped up with juice and keep everyone working efficiently. For those out on the road, there’s always the Omni power bank portable charger.
